The Welcoming Network

Resurrection in Aptos.

APTOS – The parish of Resurrection, 7600 Soquel Drive, is helping to form The Welcoming Network in Aptos-Corralitos-Watsonville to provide support to the many refugees who are fleeing violence around the world who come to this community.

There are many ways to participate in The Welcoming Network, including rides to appointments, help enrolling in school or healthcare, and financial support. Being able to speak other languages is not required.

Members of The Welcoming Network will receive an email whenever help is needed for a specific task, with members then responding to let other members know if they can help or not.

Currently The Welcoming Network is helping a family of seven from Mexico who had to flee for their lives after being attacked by members of a drug cartel, and a man from Afghanistan who fled the Taliban. The Welcoming Network is assisting them with rent. Those interested in helping can make a donation to The Welcoming Network‘s Outreach Fund for refugee support.

The Welcoming Network will have its next meeting on Thursday, 28 July 2022 at 7pm at the Watsonville Lutheran Community Church, 95 Alta Vista Drive, across from the DMV. Participants can also attend the meeting via Zoom.
